I AM NOT A WUSS !!!

This is music banned from the homes of people who think they're the "cool generation."  You gotta go underground.  You gotta make up some lame excuse in the music store checkout line, like: "It's for my grandfather.  He likes this crap."  I can really crank it when I'm in the car, but I'm afraid to roll down the windows, in case I have to wait at a light.

I'm tired of being an outcast!  Look, I'm into Kins of Leon, Black-Eyed Peas, and even Lady Gaga, like everybody else.  It's not like I'm gonna join the stupid choir.  I just want a little respect.  It's not illegal, dammit!

 Do you know how sexy an oboe sound can be? A solo french horn does something to me, too.  I don't know why.  Maybe it's a gene. There's nothing frickin' wrong with strings, either, especially bass.

Film music really pushes my buttons.  Ya know how they build tension with that "Psycho" string thing?  Or, that spaghetti western horn section "riding them proud prairies" stuff?  Those are just the corny examples, but it' gets much deeper than that.  It's like every intrument hits a different emotion. 

Okay, so I'm a sucker.  They know how to yank my chain.  But, I'm a musician, too!  Isn't that what musicians do? Just cuz there's an orchestra, people think you idolize a bunch of dead guys, so you can hang around with the money crowd.

It's not like that.  Those guys have been rotting in their graves for hundreds of years, and they still get airplay. 

Even Mozart pissed off his boss by being a little brat.  He did non-conformist things with music that had never been done before.  That's what I wanna do... dump the music status quo, flip it upside down, spin it around, until people realize I've got something to say.

I love guitars, I really do.  But they're not the only musical instruments.  Think beyond the Fender and the Les Paul.  Expand your band with other sounds! Synths are cool.  Sit one next to the violas, and see what happens.

There.  I'm out of the closet!  Call me what you want, but I've got an open mind.  There's  ALOT more out there.  Mix it up a bit.  Stop screaming, and hear the music.
